They also announced 11 new series for fall and midseason. Perhaps the most surprising move, especially considering the show’s poignant and excellent series finale, has to be the return of “ Scrubs,” which will be back for midseason. The witches finally band together to cast Van Horne from their lives using their magic, after having been tricked by him into causing mischeif in their town with magic. The pilot will be based on John Updike’s 1984 novel about a coven of witches in the fictional Rhode Island town of Eastwick in the 1960’s, who are plagued with troubles when a mysterious, Lucifer-like man named Daryl Van Horne appears in their midst, takes them all as lovers, and spreads discord and jealousy. Newman has previously appeared in the TV series “Supernatural” and “Stargate: Atlantis”. Cartwright originally appeared in the 1987 film version of the tale, which also starred Cher, Jack Nicholson, Michelle Pfeiffer, and Susan Sarandon.
